Yummy! Thai Food!

I stumbled on a little Thai place while visiting friends and family just outside of Atlanta, GA. I usually order red curry, but this particular restaurant offered Massaman curry with cashews and avocado, which is my favorite way to have it prepared. If convenient, I would eat here again, thaiheaven.biz However, my favorite place to eat Thai food in and around Atlanta is a place called Surin of Thailand. It is located in a small neighborhood in downtown called Virginia-Highlands. www.yelp.com The flavoring for Massaman curry is called Massaman curry paste (nam phrik kaeng massaman). The dish usually contains coconut milk, roasted peanuts or cashews, potatoes, bay leaves, cardamom pods, cinnamon, star anise, palm sugar, fish sauce, chili and tamarind sauce. Traders brought spices such as turmeric, cinnamon, star anise, cumin, cloves and nutmeg from Indonesia to the south coast of Thailand. The dish is served with rice and sometimes with pickled ginger or "achat" (อาจาด [aːtɕàːt]), an accompaniment made with cucumber and chili peppers macerated in vinegar. In 2011 CNNGo ranked massaman as number one in an article titled World's 50 most delicious foods.

Shirataki Thai Noodles! Yummy!!!

Have you heard about the dieter's best kept secret - aka Miracle Noodles?! This product - Shirataki Noodles was featured on the Dr. Oz show (that's how I learned about it). I bought a pkg. not knowing what to do with it. When I first opened it up - whew...I threw it away because I thought it went bad!!! I opened another pkg. and realized - oh, that's just how they smell...well, I tried to think of a dish it would be good in. I went online - didn't really find anything good - so I came up with this... Since then, this is one of my 'go-to' meals when I am trying to get in bathing suit shape! The key to loosing weight is what you eat!!! This dish is not only healthy but very satisfying. The secret ingredient is the Shirataki noodles! You can find these at Henry's or Albertsons - they are only 40 calories for the ENTIRE bag!!! So that means you can eat as MUCH as you want - GUILT FREE!!! WHooo-hooo! Recipe: 1 pkg of Shirataki Noodles (in Calif. I find these @ Albertson's - near the tofu section & Sprouts - near the deli meats) Veggies - really this is your call what you like to eat. Here's what I like to add: - Brocoli, cauliflower, mushrooms - white or Japanese shitaki would be nice!, green onions, white onions, carrots, sugar snap peas or chinese peas, bean sprouts, carrots, zucchini. ** I didn't add this to the video - but water-chestnuts are good too. Proteins choices - chicken or shrimp. Fresh-N-Easy sells precook pkgs of both - the chicken is hormone free too! Yay ...
